The Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) is organizing the Third Annual Biosafety Forum from February 08 - 09, 2018 at the Hotel Africana, Kampala, Uganda. The Annual Biosafety Forum is a platfom for engagement and interaction among members of the National Biosafety Committee (NBC), Institutional Biosafety Committees (IBCs), policy makers and researchers/scientists to discuss progress of Genetic Modification (GM) work, and implication for biosafety regulation in Uganda. The Forum will provide feedback on the on-going genetic modification work, and also increase our knowledge and understanding of the global sceintific trends  of GM technology and the challenges it presents for biosafety regulation. The theme for the Forum is: "Building Trust and Confidence in the Biosafety Regulation System". Key issues to discuss will include evolutionary global perspective and trends of risk assessment of biotechnology products, regulatory trial development for GM products and co-existence of genetically modified crops and non-genetically modified crops.
